What to do about old people? They’re useless, they’re expensive and their numbers are exploding. Old people threaten to destroy our public finances with their pensions. They are already crashing our health care systems. And they still think disco is cool. So, what can be done to deal with this grey avalanche short of involuntary euthanasia?
Seriously, in this course we’ll examine what the ageing of our society means, economically, sociologically and politically, and what strategies are being adopted, could be adopted and should be adopted to limit the damage. We’ll specifically look at Japan and Italy where the ageing “wave” has already crashed, and consider what Canada should do about it because it’s coming, like it or not.
Moderators: John & Pat Simke
Date and Time: Fridays September 5, 12 and 19 2-4PM
Venue: Room VC 206, Victoria College at 91 Charles Street West, Toronto, Ontario
Cost: $39 (includes HST of $4.49)
Enrolment: Use the shopping cart below. See enrolment Terms
