Talkin' 'Bout My Generation’s
In-person course to be moderated by John Simke
Fridays April 26 and May 3 from 2-4 PM
Boomer bashing is in vogue, just as the Boomers are finally losing their domination of almost everything from politics to business and the arts. This is a good time to evaluate the impact of this hugely influential generation. We’ll look at the Boomer report card holistically, from the advancement of minority, women’s and LGBT rights, and the anti-war movement to unmitigated climate change and the “greed is good” mentality that has had us in its grip in the Boomer-dominated era. We'll also have a laugh.

Canada vs. Finland. What We Can Learn From the World's Happiest (and Most Successful) Country
In-Person Course to be moderated by John Simke
Fridays, May 10 to 31 (4 classes) from 2-4 PM
In addition to being ranked as the world's happiest country for the 7th year in a row, Finland is close to leading in almost every index that counts about national success: strength of democracy, media freedom, rule of law, social progress, technological advancement, education, income equality and more. In this course we’ll consider why Finland is doing so well. Then we’ll go on to analyze what Canada can learn from them and what parts of their success could be applied here.
