What Will the Iran War Mean?

to go onto the waitlist. Thank you!

The U.S.-Israel-Iran-Lebanon war may turn out to be relatively short-lived with an outcome that mainly affects the nations directly involved. Although the fragile ceasefire might limit the damage, many countries and people are already feeling a severe impact of this war. The Straits of Hormuz may open fully again and the world at large may go back to business as usual, but that's looking increasingly unlikely and is not the prevailing view amongst geopolitical analysts. They see this war, whatever the immediate outcome, as having large and long-lasting, likely transformational consequences.

In this course we’ll look at the possible longer-term political, geopolitical, economic and in particular energy consequences of this war. It is quite possible that not a single person or nation globally will be unaffected by this war, and that these effects could be deeply destabilizing in many ways. We’ll consider various scenarios and how they will affect the various countries directly involved,  the overall Middle East,  and the world beyond.
