Post-Boomer Society - A Better World???
Course full. Click here to go on waiting list
As the Millennial generation replaces the boomers as the main presence in the working age population we face massive social, political and economic change. The ideas of the boomers and their predecessors will give way to different values, sometimes annoying or scary, sometimes inspirational. Get ready to adjust!
Boomers think they should be in charge forever, but “good luck with that”. We are finally getting into a period in which the boomers will be giving way to the ideas of Generation X and the Millennials. What will this mean, culturally, economically, politically and socially? Will the world be more altruistic, less materialistic, less conflictual, less hierarchical and less male-dominated, as some would have us believe? Or will it be more superficial, more technological, less human and even more money-driven? We will explore the emerging shape of post-boomer society, what values are likely to predominate, which institutions will prevail and how this emerging society is likely to address the current problems of climate change, ageing societies and overwhelming debt.
