Our New Venue for In-Person Classes
This spring we will be offering in-person classes at St.Paul's church, 227 Bloor Street East, just a five minute walk from the Bloor-Yonge subway station and close to plenty of parking. Several coffee shops very close to the venue.
St. Paul's has a highly professional space rental program. Below is a picture of Cody Hall where we will be having our classes. To keep us safe, we will be double- spacing the seating. The square will be expanded to accommodate the group with lots of room. As you can see the ceilings are high and the ventilation is excellent. Of course, people are welcome to wear masks, and we ask that only fully vaccinated people attend. One favourable aspect of St. Pauls's is that, unlike the university, there are very few people in the facility, so, other than our group, we are unlikely to see more than a handful of people.
We are delighted to be renting this space from St. Paul's, given its quality and location. OISE at the University of Toronto, where we rented space for seven years prior to the pandemic, is still not renting space to external groups.
The rental cost at St. Pauls is much higher than we were paying at OISE, so we have had to increase the weekly price of our sessions to $10, still a very reasonable price compared with other organizations offering courses to seniors. This price does not cover the rental cost, but we really want to offer in-person classes, which we see as a different experience than online, and which many prefer.
