Who we are​​


We are a non-profit academy dedicated to:
  • Offering unique learning experiences
  • Affordable prices
  • In-person delivery (until the next pandemic)

Our courses are interesting and fun. They include:
  • A participative learning experience
  • A course pack of current readings in advance
  • Discussion notes for each class
  • Recommended books
  • Topical videos & article links e-mailed to participants
  • Limited in-person classes of 30 to enhance interaction


Prices (all including HST)
  • Our course prices  are $13 per in person class 
  • Any course fees over our costs are being donated to food charities, locally and globally. For in-person classes there is no surplus over costs  

The founders and moderators of Learning Experiences are well-read and globally educated, highly experienced at preparing, presenting and moderating participatory courses in university and conference settings.

​John Simke practiced as a Chartered Accountant and management consultant for over 30 years, working with governments and large corporations. His main interests are international relations, economics, reading and fitness. 

​Pat Simke began her career as an RN later becoming a provincial healthcare planner, then federal senior advisor on the Canada Health Act while earning an MBA. Work experience on the Economic Committee of Privy Council was followed by owning 2 businesses, finishing her career as a stock broker. Her main Interests are politics and economics, reading and fitness.  

Pat & John also have taken several programs in politics and economics at Cambridge University and the London School of Economics. Pat & John 
created Learning Experiences after moderating courses at LIFE Institute for several years.
