Our Courses
This fall we will be offering four Friday courses - all in person!
(at least that's the plan)
What’s Our Healthcare Future? - Will you thrive in the new Healthcare?
Course to be moderated by Pat Simke
In person on Fridays October 27 and November 3 from 2-4 PM
We have all been reading horrific stories about healthcare recently. It makes us wonder if our healthcare system problems are temporary or permanent. Are there going to be adequate services available for us in the future? What could fix our current system? What can we learn from other places? What’s the best option? And bottom-line, is a decent system affordable? In this course we’ll look at patients’ prospects in ‘modern healthcare’. See a more detailed course description here
What To Do About The Police
Course to be moderated by John Simke
In person on Fridays, September 8 through 29 from 2-4 PM
The police come across today as a bunch of fat, overpaid, racist, homophobic and misogynistic cowards. An exaggeration? Of course. However, there is little doubt that police behaviour and accountability are a problem almost everywhere. Attempts at police reform have consistently failed. In this course we'll explore why this is the case and where better approaches to policing exist. We'll consider what needs to be be done here.

What is Toronto's Future - Renewal or Decline?
Course to be moderated by John Simke
In Person on Fridays October 6 to 20 from 2-4 PM
Things are not looking great for Toronto right now. An affordable housing crisis, seriously inadequate public transit, random violent attacks, growing income inequality and a Provincial premier hostile to Toronto. Not to mention the growing impact of climate change. We finally have a mayor committed to change. How can she improve things, or are we destined for further decline? We'll look at the alternative strategies for change and how the barriers can be overcome. See a more detailed course description here
The Geopolitics of AI
In person on Fridays November 10 to December 1, 2-4PM
The countries that lead in AI will have a significant competitive advantage, economically and militarily. So, AI has become one of the key factors of geopolitical competition. So, AI has become one of the key factors of geopolitical competition. We are entering a new theatre of "spy vs. spy". We will explore what AI is going to mean for how nations and non-state actors project power and interact with each other. See a more detailed course description here
