The United States is in the grip of the so-called “culture wars”, sharp division between the values and beliefs of different segments of society. But it’s not just the U.S. A similar phenomenon exists in many other countries, including Canada, the U.K., Israel, other parts of the Middle East, Australia and several European countries. In fact, cultural conflict has become a global phenomenon that is damaging the ability to solve the world’s problems, and of course it is a problem in its own right, in terms of making many countries less secure and also affecting quality of life
In this course we’ll explore the culture wars in various countries, the reasons behind them, their implications, how they are likely to evolve and possible policies to deal with them
Date and Time: Thursdays May 25 and June 1, 2-4PM
Location: Cody hall, St.Paul's church, 227 Bloor Street East, See more about the venue here
