covid-19 and our economic future - completed
Up to now in Canada we’ve gone beyond counting the cost of the virus, we have also implicitly accepted that there are more important motives than profit. We have also initiated a mass experiment in working from home. Could these domestic actions turn out to be good thing for the urban/rural divide and our cost of living?
Internationally, covid-19 along with China/US tensions over trade and technology, is forcing business and governments to consider ways to bring outsourced jobs and production closer to home. Our languishing manufacturing industry; importation of items like steel that could be made in Canada; even our excess inventories (unsold goods) could help restart our economy.
• Are you optimistic or pessimistic about a 10-year progressive change for Canada?
• What would it take for Canada to stay a course towards fairer, more equitable government policies?
• How do you see Canada’s supply chains faring in the post-Covid-19 era?
• More people are in a position to connect the dots, how can we end the crisis with human progress?
