We are now 20 years into the internet age. What appeared to be just another technology has evolved into a transformational enabler, constantly evolving into new ideas, possibilities & unfortunately, threats. Most of us could not have conceived of what we can now do through the internet and its immense enriching
of our lives. Yet it is not all positive. Social networks are having unpredicted consequences. Data collection by corporations & governments carry the risk of a loss of personal freedom. New forms of fraud have been enabled. Yet, in spheres such as media, health, and politics, the internet has wonderful possibilities, which are starting to be realized. In this course we will explore the current realities and future trends of the internet, and how it might affect us personally in the years ahead.
