Latin America - Emerging at Last?
Course full Click here to go on waiting list
Leftist politicians Dilma Roussef in Brazil and Evo Morales in Bolivia just go re-elected. Further evidence that Latin America is finally asserting its independence from the United States. What does this mean? What will be the role of Latin America in the 21st Century? It is not likely to remain largely forgotten and ignored. Its geopolitical significance will increase with its population, resources and increasing wealth.
Latin America is a unique, but often ignored part of the world when it comes to global affairs. Yet, Latin America can no longer be ignored. It is coming out of the shadow of its troubled history and U.S. domination, and is asserting itself. It includes some of the most dynamic and interesting countries on earth – big ones like Brazil and Mexico, smaller ones like Colombia, Chile, Uruguay and Costa Rica, and countries that reject globalization, like Venezuela, Ecuador and Bolivia. Could this be Latin America’s time? We will explore how Latin America is evolving and its emerging role in the world.
