Should Canada increase immigration significantly to target a population of 100 million? Some commentators believe that Canada cannot sustain itself economically, socially culturally and politically without a much larger population. Doug Sanders has argued in his recent book “Maximum Canada” that Canada needs to boost immigration significantly to achieve a population of 100 million by the end of this century. He is not alone in this. Others have argued similarly. Is this right for Canada? Could we handle it? Or should we stay modest in our aspirations?
