The Social Entrepreneurs - Solving the World's Most Difficult Problems
COURSE FULL. TO BE PLACED ON WAITING LIST PLEASE E-MAIL learningexperiences@bell.net
Corporate executives think they are masters of the universe by developing a new derivative or iPhone. Try solving the drought problem in the Sahel region of Africa. Try dealing with poverty in South-Central Los Angeles or handling Ebola. "Sorry, we don’t do that”.
Enter the Social Entrepreneur, an individual just as innovative as any corporate exec. but with a mission to solve real problems. Think of Andrew Noun’s One Acre Fund in Kenya; think Baldev Farms in India; or D.Light Design which manufactures inexpensive lamps & sells them in communities that don’t have reliable electricity.
Many social entrepreneurs are using highly innovative technology to solve problems that seemed uncrackable in the past. In this course we will learn about how social entrepreneurs develop, finance and implement their ideas. We will be inspired by some of the most interesting and impactful social entrepreneurship case studies.
