The Obama Legacy, the Election and Beyond – can the U.S. get its mojo back?

Trump is on everyone’s mind right now, but the obsession with him obscures broader issues about the United States.
What is the “state of the union?” Is the wellbeing of the country’s citizens improving or declining? Is the country’s political and economic power waxing or waning?
Is the country addressing its challenges, or just “kicking them down the road”. Is the U.S. adapting to a “multipolar” world rather than the post cold war one in which the U.S. was the sole superpower? Is it going to adapt to the impacts of climate change? Can it continue to keep its social fabric intact with the present level of inequality and economic malaise?
What have been the successes and failures of the Obama Presidency and what will be his legacy? What is at stake in the upcoming election? What would a Clinton world look like and what would a Trump world look like? After the election what would be the most appropriate policies for the U.S. in a rapidly changing world?
We will explore these questions to give us all a better understanding of what the coming election means.
